FAQ
-
Why is WAB English not listed on the official website of Zweiphasenausbildung?WAB English rents the training facility from Transportschule AG and Verkehrszentrum Tuggen AG and uses their event licence. You can find both on the official list on 2-phasen.ch
-
What is the WAB course and who needs to take it?The WAB course (Zweiphasenausbildung) is a required training/course for new drivers in Switzerland and is mandatory for anyone who recently completed their Swiss driver’s licence.
-
Where can I see if I have to attend the WAB course? On your driving licence in section 4b (expiration date). If there is a date, you must attend the course. If there are only stars (no expiration date), you do not have to attend the course. Registration is not possible in this case, as you already have a definitive driving licence. Congratulations!
-
The final registration doesn't work. This is because you already have a definitive driver's licence and do not have to attend the WAB course because you already had a foreign driver's licence before the Swiss one. See above “Where can I see if I have to attend the course”
-
I had a foreign driving license and despite this I have an expiration date. Why?This is because the foreign driving licence was issued less than three years before you changed it to a Swiss licence, or you renewed your foreign driving licence before you came to Switzerland.
-
When must the WAB course be taken? In the first year after your driving exam.
-
I missed the first year and haven't attended the course yet.I recommend that you register for a course in the near future, otherwise you risk a fine.
-
I have missed the whole probation period and my driving licence has expired. You can still register for a course. With the invoice you receive after registration you can request a "one-day-driving-permit" from the road traffic department of your canton. This permit allows you to drive on the day of the course.
-
Do I need a car for the WAB course?Yes, it is mandatory that each participant has a car to participate. If you own a car, I strongly recommend to participate with your own car. You don't have to worry about your car, it will not be damaged during the course.
-
I don't have a car to participate. No problem! You have the possibility to rent a car. You can add this during the registration process. It costs 70 Sfr. The car will then be ready for you at the course location on the day of the course. If the booking is somehow not possible for your chosen course, then you will have to choose another date, as all cars are already booked.
-
How long does the course take? The WAB course takes 7.5 hours starting at 9am to 5:30pm.
-
What should I bring to the course?- Your Swiss driver’s licence. - Comfortable clothing adapted to the weather, as parts of the course take place outdoors. - Coffee and croissants are included, but lunch is not provided. You can bring your own lunch, as a microwave is available or there are various options within a 3-minute walking distance. - A positive attitude to learn and improve!

-
When do I get my definitive drivers licence? At the end of your probation time, see the date on your licence section 4b.
-
Do I have to do anything after the course to get the definitive drivers licence? The road traffic office will check whether you have attended the course approx. 2 weeks before the expiration date and then automatically send you the definitive driving licence by post. Make sure that your address is up to date at the road traffic office!
